NTT Mobile Communications Network announced a new cellular phone program that will allow users in Japan to make direct calls to the United States. Users must sign up to use the new service; however, it costs nothing to register. Charging 25 percent less than the current fee for international calls, NTT intends to begin service to provide direct calls to Japan from cellular phone users in the United States next year, which it will set up with the help of AT&T Wireless.
