Somebody asked how to get off the cypherpunks list.
I replied, saying where the servers are, and to

Jim Choate replied to my posting, saying this was incorrect,
because most of the list servers run majordomo,
so help requests should go to owner-cypherpunks@appropriate_machine_name.

Choate is at most partially correct - the convention of

  entire human side of the equation. <sigh>

  The point is to have a consistent interface with well understood
  semantics. This goal is not fostered in any way by advertising the
  half-a-dozen or so aliases that people who dont' twig keep passing
  around.

  Hell, if you want to be absolutely pedantic every email server on the
  net should have a postmaster alias. And if you have problems you should
  send it there. However, in the real world it doesn't work that way for
  a variety of reasons.

  Consider also the image it presents. In a worst case scenario there
  would be 7 seperate interfaces. What would a potential user say? Most
  likely "They can't even make it easy to participate in an email list,
  and they want to run the world?".

  Just look at the needless traffic this caused...
